Coffee shop

Return of the coffee shop

Return of the patieserrie.

In the book, "The Great Good Place" they describe the importance of the coffee shop. It was called a "penny university" because a penny was the cost of admission. There people could read books, talk to people, and for those that did not read, someone would sometimes be reading outloud. Newspapers were free. During this time, mail was not delivered at home, and there was no home phone. If you wanted to be found and located, you did it here. In person. If you had business, you checked in here, in person.

Coffee shop regular is a key vibe.
