Changed site tag to "Success, Happiness, and the Good Stuff"
following a really good brainstorming thinking and strategic session
was reading seth godin purple cow (from 2010 so 10 years 'out-dated' lol) but what is nice is that there are so many hype and predictions built into a marketing book that if it is ten years out of date, you can skip the stuff that did not work out and look at it in hindsight.
also the stuff that really did pay-off is absurd
also reading emyth

how does this business fit into your life
that is the question i have been asking
farnum street blog
basically summed it up in something i read yesterday with a letter from the fear and loating author, what is the life you want to live. how do you fit making a living into there?

2020 10 01 - Changed to focus more on the writing (below)
Here is a place to be weird.
I write about productivity and living a good life from a Filipino POC perspective. The words are my own and reader experience is sacrosant. I delete spam comments and write what I need to get the point across.
I don't want you to spend all day here unless it helps you. I want you to go out and live a real life. Does that hurt my stats? Maybe. Who knows? I am writing a website that people will want to read.
I am a comedian, a writer, sarcastic, and irreverent.
Work for the community.
On the other hand, everything I write here has an element of selfishness. I am creating art to share my own neuroses, experiences, viewpoints, and as a way of healing myself and the community.

- 2020 08 03 - Changed About Me to new text (below) that is closer to what my vision is for the website. A resource for Filipino Americans, but also something that is, like, normative. Like you can be a fat and funny filipino, you can be a nerdy filipino, you can be a hipster filipino, you can be a xcore, vegan filipino in a band. it does not all have to be goofy sidekick, balut-eating tall, dark, and handsome. although it can be.
Being Filipino-American is: - weird
- special
- important
and not taught in schools.
It is taught in the streets, and in living life, and in being a real person.
These things are important.
American is not always a place to be a Filipino.
You have to have an American persona that you present in order to make things doable; to survive.
Here is a place to be that person.

Hi,
I'm an office worker based in the United States. I mainly write about being an effective, informed, and cultured individual. It is good to be good.
Here are some things that I think are good:
- Being an immigrant is good too because you have to make it good. It becomes an asset.
- Growing up weird is good: In rural California (which is already a weird oxymoron to the rest of the country), being Filipino was v weird.
- Connecting with other Filipinos and other peope is good.
- Being visible online is good. Putting out content online is relevance in that context. And online is a huge context.
- Good life is good. These are parts of the good life: frugality, simplicity, DIY, minimalism, and financial early retirement.
A few other things:
-
I put out a newsletter once a week called the Member Dispatch. It usually summarizes a realization and then has a few tidbits of engaging or entertaining or timely good stuff from a widely cast net around the internet.

About Me Page:
Hi,
I'm an office worker based in the United States. I mainly write about being an effective, informed, and cultured individual. It is good to be good.
Being an immigrant is good too because you have to make it good. It becomes an asset.
In rural California (which is already a weird oxymoron to the rest of the country), being Filipino was v weird.
Eventually, I figured out why it was weird and why people were so weird and how to deal with weird situations.
My parents never said anything like, "This is the way of the Filipino."But maybe they did, actually they definitely said some stuff like that.
But I mostly learned to love being Filipino by embracing being Filipino.
Learning the culture, the history in the United States and the world, and especially through my college Filipino club.
So, I figured, it would be cool to meet and connect with other Filipinos. And a great way to do that, would be to make myself visible online.
You won't regret this. -
Ideas for schedule - Friday Interview or Feature, Tuesday Dispatch (maybe better on Sunday i.e. during the weekend? I don't really read email then though, but what do the people do?) Maybe do an alternate where I feature a product...or just have the product randomly as they come.
-
2020 05 17 - Changed Title to "Kuya Vic - Gear and Good Life Advice" and Site Subheading to "Gear Reviews and Mental Models for Living the Good Life. Filipino-American. Philosophy."
Schedule is still writing everyday and putting out whatever I can.
The website will need a marketing funnel or a way to attract and push traffic.
Have a product based website (ebook) and a personal name branding page for consulting.
